Dag UndlienUniversity of Oslo, Norway Email: d.e.undlien@medisin.uio.no Dag Undlien is a professor at the Institute of Medical Genetics at the University of Oslo. He has a long-standing research programme in genetics of autoimmune diseases, in particular type 1 diabetes, but also AAD. The institute if Medical Genetics is located together with the Section for Research at Department of Medical Gentetics at Ullevål University Hospital in Oslo. Professor Undlien is the leader of both research groups, and the research in the two institutions is done in close collaboration with each other. The different research groups have members affiliated at both institutions and are doing research in various aspects of medical genetics and functional genomics of disease. The group involved in Euradrenal works on genetics and epigenetics of common immune mediated diseases like Type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, asthma and psoriasis. The group has performed numerous genetic association studies in these diseases. Recently we have also started an epigenetics study where we will look at epigenetic profiles in monozygotic twins that are discordant for immune mediated diseases. Our Institute is currently establishing a core facility for high throughput sequencing using the Illumina Genome Analyzer. Undlies’s group is focused on contributing in the Genetics work in Euradrenal. They plan to study candidate genes, including the HLA complex. The group will also participate in pursuing transcriptome sequencing of cDNA libraries from CD4+ T cells in order to identify rare genetic variants that may contribute to disease development as well as identifying potential differences in digital gene expression profiles in patients vs. controls.
